near life experience

I once read that you can envision life as driving down a road. Obstacles and challenges that are looming, like trees that are approaching, seem bigger and bigger the closer you get to them. But soon enough you pass them and they gradually become mere specks in your rearview mirror. Yet, in reality, those trees are still as big; those challenges are and were just as important, even if they are in your past. I don't know where I'm going with this, but I guess I want to remember the drive.. and get past the trees. And hopefully there's nice scenery along the way, because trees can get boring.
